more mealtime fun

this boy loves to eat...
and eat anything, he will! he got over "baby food" and now eats whatever we eat, just in bite size form- peas, chicken, fish, spinach, bananas, avocados, broccoli, squash...
i hope this doesn't change as he grows up.

ollie update

i took ollie into the pediatrician today. as we waited, he clung to me a little unsure of the other little boy in the waiting room. he was about the same age as ollie. but as soon as he left, ollie jumped down and started playing with all the toys and kept crawling out the door into the hallway to check out all the people. then another boy came in, but this time it was a 3 year old. ollie stared for a while, then kept crawling over to the poor boy wanting to climb all over him.

then we were called back and it was time for the most traumatic part of every dr's visit- being weighed! ollie does not like this part at all. he does not like getting his clothes or diaper changed and then you expect him to lay still! he cried and squirmed and would hardly let go of me...so we only have an estimate of his height and weight: ~30 inches long and ~22 pounds, which now puts him in the 75 percentile.

so the worst was over...no shots this time, but he did have his little finger pricked for a blood sample. it's funny how upset he gets when we tried to weigh and measure him, but not even a flinch from the little buddy, when he got his finger pricked and he was pretty fascinated with the bandaid on his finger! and when the dr came in he crawled right to her and flirted away. she said ollie is doing well.

and for your enjoyment, here are some photos- his hair sometimes curls up after a bath...he really likes to chew on my lens cap.

mother's day

i always look forward to mother's day weekend, because my mom's birthday is usually close to it and it means vanessa flies down and we can spend the weekend celebrating as a family.

i love giving presents and i love wrapping presents even more. i was quite proud of my newspaper and brown paper wrappings. i was extra excited because this year was my first mother's day and let's be honest, as much as i love giving presents, i also love getting presents:) ollie even made me a card in sunday school! (they took pictures of the babies in the nursery and glued them to a card)

it was a great weekend and i am blessed to have such a great mom, who sets a wonderful example for me.

ollie's first plane trip

a weekend in san francisco!

my mom and i went up to visit my sister for our annual girls weekend...and ollie got to tag along as an honorary guest:) i was a little unsure of how he would do on a plane, considering he doesn't like to be in one spot for too long, but he did great. there were some nice ladies across the aisle that kept talking to ollie and asking to hold him. he was unsure at first but he finally put his arms out and went over to them. it was fabulous, because they held him and entertained him for most of the flight.
we had a great time in the city and spending time together. we went to the zoo- ollie seemed to enjoy looking at all the people, as well as, all the animals. we took some photos by the golden gate bridge and enjoyed the nice weather. ollie did pretty well for his first time traveling- he was a little fussy, but it was a big weekend for him and his top teeth are coming in:(
he cried all the way to the airport- vanessa says it was because he didn't want to leave; i would agree. the plane ride back home went well too- no nice ladies to entertain him, so i had to hold him the whole time, but there was a nice family behind us that ollie played peek-a-boo with.

here are some photos of our journey...
watching the giraffes...there were some cute little baby giraffes too.

ollie getting a kick out of some kids playing

ollie liked to watch the little prairie dogs.

being silly...so fitting that vanessa is a butterfly and i am the spider:)

"i love san francisco!"

free cone day

today was free cone day at ben & jerry's. an event i attend each year:) i first attended it back in college with some friends. today i enjoyed my free cone with ollie...is it still free if you make a donation for more than the cone is worth...? last year, we lived a block away from seaport village, where ben & jerry's is located, and i walked over with ollie still in my belly- i got an extra big scoop:) it was funny to be there a year later, pushing ollie around in the stroller.
it was a warm, beautiful sunny day and we walked around the harbor. i used to walk around the harbor almost daily when still lived downtown. the last time we walked down there, ollie was probably about 3 months old. i look forward to many years of free cone day with ollie as he grows up.

here are some photos of the day:)

ollie really wanted some, but i told him he'd have to wait for next year

"mommy...i think you have ice cream in your teeth"
