ouch!!

poor ollie has bumped his head 3 times on the exact same spot! why do kids do that?! unfortunately the last one was a doozy! he pulled away from me and started running and fell outside of our apartment. immediately, he had a giant goose egg- imagine a golf ball cut in half and stuck it to his head! he cried pretty hard for a little while, but recovered and was laughing again in no time. he's a pretty tough little man!

he looks a little better today. we had fun at breakfast where he tried to eat most of it himself and did surprisingly well! i tried to get some good photos if the injury. it actually looks better in the photos. his forehead is still a little puffy, but at least it doesn't look like he has a golf ball coming out of his head anymore.

5 years!!!

cheers!! jonthan & i have been married for 5 years!
it's been a great and challenging 5 years, in which we've both learned a lot and grown together. i find it funny when people talk about breaking up or getting a divorce because "it's not working out, we just weren't on the same page" or "it's not the same as when we first met." sometimes i feel like jonathan and i aren't even in the same book, let alone on the same page! and of course things aren't going to be like when we first met- things change, people change, circumstances change. but at the end of the day we are best friends, we love each other and enjoy being around each other...most of the time:)

so for our anniversary, j's parents offered to watch ollie for us. friday morning we dropped ollie off and headed up to santa monica to celebrate. we stayed at the viceroy hotel santan monica, located a couple blocks from the peir. the hotel was pretty cool; i love decor and we got complimentary champagne upon arrival, which is always nice:) check out more of our photos on flickr ( i am still working on uploading more photos there)

the pool scene- they offered $2 drinks @2pm, $3 @ 3pm and so on, so it was pretty crowded. our room was right above the pool, so the only bad part of our stay was loud music late into the evening, but we did get to sleep in!

j relaxing watching some tennis

cool yellow chairs:)

i love the plates on the wall

the library

even our hotel keys were cool.

we walked down to the peir and then to the 3rd street prommenade, where we had a fancy burger dinner at johnny rockets:) yum!

i love santa monica, because it is always good for people watching.

us on the beach...
the pier:

independence day

we celebrated the 4th of july with family on the beach:) it was a perfect sunny summer day!

ollie declaring his independence and walking, no running from daddy.

ollie loved playing in the water!

ollie seemed fascinated by the fireworkssami & trey painting with the light of some glow sticks

father's day- part 2

hi! ollie here, filling in for mom. since we were in texas for father's day, me & mommy gave daddy his gifts a little later, on friday night following father's day.
i got daddy a griddle to fix me pancake breakfasts (thanks for the idea ivs!) and of course the token father's day tie! i also made him a card with my handprint, a tradition my mom hopes to carry on. and a case of IBC root beer, which stands for, "Incredible BeCause" and we put tags on each bottle with reasons why daddy is "incredible" i can't take credit for this idea...i saw it on another blog.

we then spent the weekend with my aunti v and my grandparents and had a great time playing i think i began to master this walking walking thing. i have been able to take a few steps here and there, but it was really the first day where i was able to walk across a room:) i am getting better and better with each day.

my daddy watching the soccer match

i like to look out the window.

thanks for helping me walk, auntie v!
